William Henry Stokes, born 1894. Trade unionist and Communist Party activist. Member of the Steam Engine Makers' Society, and elected to the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) National Committee in 1935. AEU Coventry District President, 1936; full-time AEU Divisional Officer, 1937. member of the Iron and Steel Corporation, 1950-3. Appointed Justice of the Peace, 1950, and Chairman of the Coventry bench from 1966. Died, 1977.
