Much of this material was gathered by Mackay following advertisements in 'Tribune', the 'New Statesman' and the 'Daily Herald' in June 1951. It includes letters from Tillett and correspondence from individuals who remembered him (arranged alphabetically).
Ian Mackay was a journalist on the 'News Chronicle' during the early 1950s, and this collection was brought together as source material for a projected biography of Tillett. Unfortunately, Mackay died before the project was completed.
