In 1970 the Draughtsmen and Allied Technicians' Association (DATA) amalgamated with the Amalgamated Union of Engineering and Foundry Workers and the Constructional Engineering Union to become the Technical and Supervisory Section of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers, renamed Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Section) in 1971. In 1985 the amalgamation was dissolved and Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Section merged with several other unions including the Tobacco Workers' Union and The National Union of Sheetmetal Workers, Coppersmiths, Heating and Domestic Engineers. In 1988 it merged with the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs (ASTMS) to form Manufacturing, Science, Finance (MSF).
