Apr-[Jun] 1956
SubSeries
The Standard Motor Company in 1956 proposed a lay-off of 3,500 of 11,000 Standard workers, whilst a change-over to a new tractor model for Massey-Harris-Ferguson was introduced, rather than a transfer of all workers to car production, as they had agreed in negotiation in 1955. An unofficial strike began on 26 Apr 1956, lasting for a fortnight.
