This body was formed on 22 November 1918 by the blastfurnace owners of the United Kingdom to conduct negotiations with trade unions and generally promote the interests of manufacturers of pig iron. In June 1945 it was resolved to dissolve it as most of its members had joined the Blastfurnace and Coke Oven Section of the Iron and Steel Trades Employers' Association.
