The National Amalgamated Union of Life Assurance Workers was founded in 1919, after the amalgamation of the National Union of Life Assurance Agents, the Wesleyan and General Assurance Agents' Association, the Prudential Life Assurance Agents' Association, the Blackburn Philanthropic Assurance Agents' Association, and the Scottish Legal (English, Irish and Welsh) Assurance Agents' Association.
With effect from 1 October 1964, it amalgamated with the National Federation of Insurance Workers to form the National Union of Insurance Workers.
