Correspondence with HM Inspector of Taxes., 1967-1975
MSS.162/3/7/1-143
1967-1975
Item
Earlier correspondence is largely routine, about annual returns. The bulk of the file concerns transfer of trade losses from Macclesfield Silk to Hostique Limited, to be offset against corporation taxes. The Inland Revenue's late change of opinion about the transferability of these losses delayed the winding-up of Macclesfield Silk's affairs by two years and led to the possibility of litigation by Hostique Ltd. File also includes correspondence with District Valuer's Office, 1970-1972.
