  • ISTEA was formed by the amalgamation in 1922 of the Steel Ingot Makers' Association, the North of England Iron and Steel Manufacturers' Association, the Scottish Steel Makers' Wages Association and the Midland Steel Rolling Mill Employers' Association. The intention of this merger was to remove overlapping of activity, improve co-ordination, and present a united front to labour organisations. ISTEA was dissolved in 1968.
