Admin history
  • Professor Hyman was one of the authors of 'Reshaping the NUR : reorganisation and reconstruction of the union - the Warwick report', which was published in April 1988 by the Industrial Relations Research Unit of Warwick University. Hyman and his fellow authors, Michael Terry and Robert Price, were commissioned in March 1987 to undertake an inquiry into the reorganisation of the National Union of Railwaymen.

In 1992, the National Union of Railwaymen (NUR) amalgamated with the National Union of Seamen (NUS) to form the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT). Several files in this section post-date the merger; these include a file on the signal workers' dispute of 1994 and circulars, agendas and financial statements of the new union.
