The Grimsby General Workers' Friendly and Protective Society was formed in 1894 by breakaway members of the Dock, Wharf, Riverside and General Labourers' Union. It became Branch 37 of the National Union of Dock, Riverside and General Workers in 1919 and later became Grimsby 10/54 Branch of the Transport and General Workers' Union.
