  • The East London Ropemakers' Trade Union was founded in November 1889. By the time of its first quarterly meeting in February 1890, the union had 690 members (410 women and 280 men). In September / October 1890, the union split into separate men's and women's branches; the men's branch was dissolved in December 1890. Also known as the East End (London) Ropemakers' Trade Union and the East London Ropemakers' Union.
