Collection
Minute books and related papers of EEEMA's constituents, 1872-1973; company files of its members (interim list only), 1948-84. System of arrangement
This collection comprises the records (mainly minute books) of the various predecessor constituents - the district organisations and employers' associations which amalgamated to form the EEEMA c.1969 - and the files of local companies. The records of the district organisations and employers' associations form part of the archive (and are listed below), and each is accompanied by its own collection-level description. This has not been possible for EEEMA's member firms, given their large number and uncatalogued state.
Bridgebuilding and Constructional Engineering Employers' Association, East Midlands Area Committee (MSS.288/B); Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation, Derby and District Association (MSS.288/D); East Midlands Joint Standing Committee (MSS.288/EMJ); Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation, Leicester and District Association (MSS.288/LE); Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation, Lincoln, Gainsborough and Newark Association (MSS.288/LI); Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation, Nottingham and District Association (MSS.288/N); North and East Midlands' Association of Controlled Firms (MSS.288/NEM); Nottingham and District Sheet Metal Employers' Association (MSS.288/NSM).

The Engineering Employers' East Midlands Association was established in 1969 by the amalgamation of district organisations based in Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Nottingham. These had previously been linked by a joint standing committee on which the Burton on Trent and Grantham Associations were also represented. The Association currently forms one of the Engineering Employers' Federation's 13 affiliated regional Associations and covers Lincoln, Nottingham, Derby, Northants, Leicester and Rutland.
The archive has been weeded for duplicates.
Written permission from the depositor is required. Please contact the Centre for details.
