  • The Associated Carpenters' and Joiners' Society of Scotland was founded in 1861 largely on the initiative of the United Joiners of Glasgow and West of Scotland. In 1911 it merged with the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners. Reference: T.J. Connelly, 'The woodworkers, 1860-1960' (Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers, 1960).
