The Association was founded in December 1907. It merged with the West Midlands Engineering Employers' Association (MSS.265) in 1984. The West Midlands Association now forms the largest of the Engineering Employers' Federation's thirteen regional Associations, with over 1200 companies in its membership.
This collection has been weeded for duplicates.

The minutes of the Association's Executive Committee/Management Board from 1915, together with some other miscellaneous records, are kept at the headquarters of EEF West Midlands. Written application to see them should be addressed to: the Chief Executive, EEF West Midlands, St. James House, Frederick Road, Edgbaston Birmingham, B15 1JJ. A descriptive note on these records, made in 1974, is kept at the Modern Records Centre in its archive inspections' lists.
The Centre also holds the papers of the West Midlands Engineering Employers' Association (MSS.265); the Engineering Employers' Federation (MSS.237); the Engineering Employers' East Midlands Association (MSS.288); and those of many of their predecessor organisations.
