  • Central America Women's Network (CAWN) worked in partnership with women’s organisations in Central America to support them in defending their rights. CAWN fostered links between women’s organisations in the United Kingdom and Central America and raised awareness of the concerns of Central American women amongst the public and policy makers. CAWN’s aims were: "to promote exchanges of experiences between women’s organisations and activists in Europe, Central America and other regions, such as Southern Africa; to provide up to date information and analysis of the situation of women’s rights through their email list, briefings, newsletters, website and research reports; to build the capacity of women’s rights activists to boost their understanding of development from a gender perspective, to learn collectively, and to gain advocacy and media skills; to develop international networks of solidarity and support; and to lobby and advocate to influence relevant policies at United Kingdom and European Union levels."
