On 3 August 1979 the (Shadow) Professional Practice Committee met. In the meantime the new Professional Practice Divisional Committee, effectively a redesignation of the Professional Development and Practice Committee, first met on 11-12 May 1979, and by June 1981 seven Advisory Panels were answering to it, of which two were Corresponding Panels, and it was also responsible for linking with and making grants to BASW's seven Special Interest Groups. From April 1988, there were also BASW Trust meetings of the Committee. On 9 August 1988, a preliminary discussion meeting was held as to the amalgamation of the Professional Practice and Social Policy Divisional Committees and the first joint meeting took place on 19 October 1988. An agenda for the Policy and Practice Team meeting of 3 October 1988 and minutes of the Policy and Practise [sic] Group, 21 April 1986 have been placed at the end of this section. The newly amalgamated Social Policy Divisional Committee first met on 19 October 1988.
