Tim Brown, Maurice Hawker, David Thorpe, Neil Campbell, Derek Akker and Frank Boylan visited the United States on 7-22 May 1981 to examine work with young offenders, on an exchange visit organised by the American National Association of Social Workers. Brown visited Boston and Baltimore, with other members of the team also visiting Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco and Chicago.
