  • The working party was originally set up by the Education and Training Committee. The task was to examine the philosophy of assessment in social work. The assumptions were that training for social work was essential, and the objectives of training were to enable the individual "to identify and develop the personal resources so that he has a knowledge base and a set of theoretical constructs; to manage and organise those resources [and] to deploy those resources" and that assessment of an individual's capacity to complete and use his training is essential.
