  • Item
  • First and second proposal, with notes. "This was Bookmarks' only attempt to pay an advance to an author. Copies of the outline were circulated to all members of the SWP Central Committee. Jonathan N was attempting to make a living as a writer at the time and I argued that we should contribute to his wages, just as writers on Socialist Worker were paid. The project was rejected as 'too ambitious'; the proposal for payment rejected out of hand" [Peter Marsden].
