This collection contains: copies of constitution signed by member companies, 1966-1968; minutes of various meetings, 1965-1969.
This body was formed in 1965 on the termination of the North East Coast and Scottish Steel Makers' Association and the Midland and Welsh Steel Makers' Association (known collectively as the Heavy Steel Associations). It was a member of the British Steel Producers' Conference.
The deposits made in the Centre by British Steel plc also include records of: the Heavy Steel Associations and their predecessors collectively; separate records of the Scottish Steel Makers' Association, the Midland and Welsh Steel Makers' Association, the North East Coast Steel Makers' Association and their predecessors; the British Steel Producers' Conference; a number of other iron and steel employers' organisations, notably the British Iron and Steel Federation, the statutory Iron and Steel Board and the nationalised British Steel Corporation.
