The Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Printers and Auxiliaries was formed in 1880 as the successor to the loosely federated Central Association of Lithographic and Copperplate Printers' Societies. The London Society of Lithographic Printers joined the amalgamation in 1912. It was followed by the Amalgamated Society of Litho Stone and Plate Preparers in 1920 and the London Society of Litho Music Printers in 1930. Several attempts to amalgamate with the Society of Lithographic Artists, Designers, Engravers and Process Workers were unsuccessful. The Amalgamated Society of Lithographic Printers and Auxiliaries joined the National Graphical Association in 1969.
