  • Initially known as the Association of Professional Recording Studios, the APRS became a limited company in 1951 and changed its name to the Association of Professional Recording Services in the early 1980s. In 1986 it created a separate membership group for record producers, the British Record Producers Guild (BRPG) (re-named Re-Pro in 1993), followed in 1990 by a group for recording pressers and duplicators (PAD), a section for manufacturers, distributors, hire companies and consultants (the Suppliers Group) and, in 1997, the Audio Post-Production Studios Group (APPS). It also established an education and training section.
