  • The union was established as the Friendly Society of Plate Moulders of England, Ireland and Wales in 1890 and renamed the Amalgamated Society of Plate and Machine Moulders of England, Ireland and Wales in 1893, the Amalgamated Moulders' Union in 1907 and the Amalgamated Moulders and Kindred Industries' Trade Union in 1916. It merged with the Amalgamated Union of Foundry Workers in 1967. Reference: H.J. Fyrth and H. Collins, 'The foundry workers, a trade union history'. (Manchester, 1959).
