  • The archive includes UNISON NEC papers, 1995-1999; UNISON Senior Management Team minutes, 1993-2000; UNISON Standing Orders Committee 2001; Branch Secretaries' circulars and Information Bulletins, 2000-2001. In addition to UNISON material the archive includes 9 boxes of NALGO conference papers and some NUPE files on rules, finance and individual union divisions. Additional deposits of minutes have been accessioned at Acc 566 and 637
  • 153 boxes (110 [MSS.389], 24 [566], 18 [637], 11 [698], 4 [743], 4 [792], 1 [1189])
  • UNISON was formed on 1 July 1993 by the amalgamation of the National and Local Government Officers' Association, the National Union of Public Employees and the Confederation of Health Service Employees.
  • This collection has been weeded for duplicates.
  • Written permission from UNISON is required for access to unpublished records in this collection which are less than 15 years old. UNISON contact details are available from the Modern Records Centre.

  • The Centre holds Rodney Bickerstaffe's papers, both as General Secretary of NUPE and of UNISON. They include many administrative and policy papers which duplicate and supplement the main series. It also holds memoirs of two National Union Public Employees and UNISON officials.
