  • Item
  • Peter Petroff was a Russian socialist. He had participated in the 1905 Russian revolution but left in 1907 to come to Britain. Petroff returned to Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution and served as Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, however he disagreed with the growing policy of dictatorship and left for Germany, with his wife, in 1921. After Hitler came to power they were forced into hiding and fled to Britain via France in 1933. Memorandum of interview, correspondence, etc., 1933-44, 1967-9.
