The Standing Conference of Organisations of Social Workers was established in 1962 to help bring about a unified national organisation. It led to the establishment of the British Association of Social Workers in 1970.

MSS.378/BASW contains records after 1970, when this association was merged with others to form the British Association of Social Workers.
