Union activist and former senior lecturer in Biology at Brunel University 1959-1986. Joined the Association of Scientific Workers as an undergraduate at Imperial College in 1950. Founder member of Brunel College (later University) branch c 1963 where he served periods as chairman and treasurer. Delegate to union annual conferences including the first Rules Conference of the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs, following the amalgamation of the Association of Scientific Workers with the Association of Supervisory Staffs, Executives and Technicians in 1968. Member of the union's Standing Orders Committee, including a period as chairman, until 1995. Member of Executive for London Area Committee, chairman of No 8 Division c 1970-1983 and divisional Education Officer until 1986. In this year Dr Dore moved to Somerset and became chairman of the Quantock branch. Member of Manufacturing, Science and Finance Training National Advisory Committee 1994-1996.
