This Advisory Panel, which was initially called the Social Work and Juvenile Delinquency Advisory Panel, replaced the Social Policy and Juvenile Delinquency Working Party, which was originally established in 1972 to discuss the operation of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969, but which also became deeply involved in other aspects of juvenile crime. The panel was abolished in November 1981, when its work was taken over by the Advisory Panel on Social Work with Offenders (Policy and Practice).
