From 1974 onwards the files have been reconstituted from several series of minutes' files from which duplicates have been weeded.

The Interim National Section Committee for the Child Care and Family Social Work Section first met on 8 August 1970. By December 1972 it was known as the National Committee of Section III; it was later known as the Section 3 Committee or the Section 3 National Committee until the end of 1974, after which it became the Child and Family Care Section Committee, and finally the Child and Family Care Committee from October 1976. It was abolished when the society was restructured in 1979.
